Bespoke.ai: GOOGLE LABS X USC
User Experience Design, Research, AI Integration, Brand Identity

Type: Makeathon Challenge
Roles: UX/UI Designer, Product Designer, Project Manager, AI Specialist

Prompt: how can we use AI creatively to solve meaningful, global problems?

Constraints: “Create anything but you must use at least one Google AI tool to make it.”

bespoke.ai: a platform for designing custom products which are then created by skilled artisans. It felt like the perfect solution to support artisans while offering users something unique and personal.

Concept Development
At this stage, we faced an interesting dilemma: how could we make this platform valuable to both users and artisans?

Industry Research & User InsightsAfter deciding on our concept, we spoke to AI professionals at the Google Labs event who had experience building user-friendly AI tools for public use. Based on this input, we decided to narrow our focus and apply the concept specifically to jewelry, with a particular emphasis on engagement rings.

Here’s what we were thinking:
  • High Impact Example: Rings are high-ticket items with deep personal meaning, especially engagement rings, which people often want to customize uniquely for their partners.
  • Clear, Relatable Example: Focusing on a specific item like a ring allowed us to create a detailed journey that viewers could immediately understand, rather than overloading them with too many product options.

Mapping the User & Artisan Journeys

We believed the tool needed to go the same way from both ends:
Intent → AI Suggestions → Customization → Final Product.

Brand Identity and Logo Design

When it came to branding, we wanted something simple and memorable. We chose a wordmark logo to keep things clean and professional, emphasizing the tool’s straightforward, functional purpose. The neutral color palette was designed to keep attention on the products, highlighting the unique designs rather than the interface itself.

Next Steps
  • Expand Product Categories
  • Detailed Artisan Portfolios: Add artisan ratings, reviews, and client feedback for better transparency.
  • Social Features: Allow users to follow artisans and see completed projects on their feed.
  • Enhanced AI Customization: Offer more specific design preferences, styles, and themes for each product.
  • Collaboration Tools: Let users share designs with friends or family for feedback before finalizing.
  • Marketplace design
