Methodology
  • Primary Research: Conducted 20 in-person interviews to understand consumer priorities and behaviors when purchasing speakers.
  • Secondary Research: Analyzed existing data and trends in the speaker market to validate findings and uncover additional insights.

Key Insights
1. Sound Quality & Community as Top Priorities:
    • Consumers prioritize sound quality (e.g., clarity, bass, treble control) over other features.      
    • Community engagement (e.g., connecting with others, sharing music experiences) ranks high as a differentiator.

2. Desired Features:
    • Flexibility to customize audio settings based on environment or mood.
    • Seamless connectivity between speakers and integration with other apps.

3. Sudtlety, exclusivity, functionality!!

By integrating these features into the app, it not only enhances functionality but also creates a sense of exclusivity—offering users a unique platform to personalize their audio experience and connect within thier niche communities in a way that feels curated and intentional.

Feature 1: Customizable Audio Presets


  • Problem Identified: Users valued sound above all features and desired personalized control over sound settings to tailor to specfic enviroments.
  • Solution:
    • Allow users to adjust audio settings (bass, treble, etc.) and save them as presets for different scenarios.
    • Examples: "Beach," "Home," "Park," or "Party."
    • Result: Enhanced user satisfaction with personalized sound optimization, encouraging continued app use.

Feature 2: Community Integration


  • Problem Identified: Users value community engagement and want to connect with others over shared music experiences.
  • Solution:
    • We can start by using the Apple Music API to integrate a social component where users can:
      • Follow others within the Beats Pill app.
      • View their recently played tracks on Apple Music. (Users will be able to make this feature private as well.)
      • Give them a like or reaction to their song! 
    • This mirrors features of apps like Airbuds, creating a more community-driven experience.
      • Slowly we can integrate other DSPs as well (Spotify, Amazon Music, Tidal, ect.)


Expected Impact  
  • Customer Retention: Improved user experience through personalization and community-building features.
  • Brand Differentiation: Strengthened appeal in a competitive speaker market by addressing both individual sound preferences and social engagement needs.
